“No pain, no gain” – This is how most of us view health and beauty. Thus, we subject ourselves into some form of torture just to look our very best.
But what if I tell you, that you can look your best, hair free, satiny smooth and all that jazz sans the pain, excited?
I’m sure many of us would prefer that over other more painful methods such as waxing and electrocution…errr, I mean electrolysis!
In today’s article, we will be doing a CosBeauty IPL review.
Yep, you heard that right. Those IPL machines once used in the clinics and salons are now available for home use! Yep, no hefty fee per treatment and you can do it right in the comfort of your own home, no more exposing your fuzzy, wuzzy self to other people.

Review Of The Device
The Real Deal: Brutally Honest CosBeauty IPL Review
Ok, here we go.
There are tons of other IPL products in the markets and basically, they differ in price, design, the number of flashes available, the wavelength at which these lights travel and maybe the entire offer (like, what comes with the kit) The more the merrier of course, who doesn’t love freebies especially if you’re throwing in a couple of hundred dollars, right?.
If you’re a broke ass babe like me, you’d want the world’s finest but for the lowest cost possible. This right here is a good device to start with.
I can name a similar device for nearly the same price but that packs on waaaayyyy lower flashes.
200,000 flashes ain’t that bad. It’s enough to make your entire body as hairless as a naked mole rat complete with more than enough flashes for touch-ups.
Before I get carried away, let’s go judge this baby based on the factors that I look for when searching for the best IPL machines/devices:
- Look and Feel
- Number of Flashes
- Ease of use
- Number of Settings Available
Look and Feel
Like a lot of IPL devices out there, this one looks like a hair blower or a price scanner gun (made me sing Jessie J’s Price Tag while writing this, anyway…) which can be good and bad.
Good if you’ll be using it mainly at home. Bad if you’d like to travel with it.
The handle is pretty long compared to other brands but could also be because I have small hands. The device feels really sturdy and well made. The addition of the LED window adds value to the entire device (again, there are similarly priced or even more expensive IPL devices that don’t even give us an LED screen).
I like how the number of flashes left are displayed, that way, you’ll know when you are running low and can order a replacement cartridge in advance, rather than miss out on a session while waiting for your cartridge to be delivered.
Extra cartridges available here:
The CosBeauty IPL is FDA cleared as safe for home use.
It has a skin tone sensor which I consider as one of its safety features. The sensor can tell you whether or not the product is ok for you to use rather than let you try the treatment itself and either see no results at all or burn yourself badly.
Another great freebie that comes with the package is the safety glasses. Not all devices offer this and although they claim that these lasers are safe, it’s a different matter when it comes to our eyes.
ALWAYS protect your eyes folks especially if you’re treating your facial area (upper lip). An ounce of prevention is always better than a pound of cure.
The product itself is effective for people with brown to black hair and light to medium skin tones.
If you have light skin and hair, this product may not be effective for you.
Treatments are spaced out every 2 weeks and results are accumulative like most IPL devices. Meaning, don’t expect dramatic results on Day 1.
After completing the suggested amount of treatments (8-10), expect that there will be some new hair growing again. These are not regrowth though, but instead, are the once dormant hair follicles that got triggered by factors such as hormones.
Keep your product with you for touch-ups (I know people who let others borrow their device once they’re done or completely give it away to others).
Number of Flashes
This baby’s packed with flashes. The cartridge that comes with your device has 200,000 flashes while replacement cartridge has 100,000. For its price, I consider this a total steal!
Ease of use
Having a LED screen, button and lights, you may think that this device is complicated to use. Think again! Following the CosBeauty IPL hair removal instructions is pretty easy.
It can be summed up as follows:
Prep the Skin
Ensure that the treatment area is shaved and cleansed. IPL works best on shaved hair as the light travels quickly to the root compared to unshaven hair.
Test Your Skin
Plug your device and turn it on by long pressing on the power button. Once the device flashes a red light, press the sensor on to your skin or treatment area (you know how skin tone differs on each part of our body sometimes). Without this step, you won’t be able to use your device, it’s for your own safety anyway. After testing, the standby status will turn 100% meaning you’re good to zap away. Don’t forget to wear your safety glasses!
Treat Your Skin
Choose your desired intensity level, aim and shoot by clicking the operation button. Once you’re done, long press the power button to turn the device off.
Number of Settings Available
This device has a total of 5 intensity levels. It’s suggested to start with the lowest just to get a feel of the sensation and once you’re used to it you can work your way up till the highest setting for maximum results.
Putting It All Together
I personally think this CosBeauty IPL is such a great deal for its price. With its features and overall look and feel it can compete with other expensive brands and even KO most of them.
This one’s a sure winner.
I will suggest it for people who plan to use this at home but not for those planning to take it with them on travels. Unless you’re traveling using your own vehicle, this device is not air travel-friendly due to its size.
I won’t suggest it for people with uber light hair and those with deep skin tone, it would end up a useless buy for y’all and we can’t know if then you can get your money refunded.
Hope this CosBeauty IPL review helped you in deciding whether or not you should go for the product.
