But there are so many epilators to choose from right now that it can be hard to know where to start. Not only are there different brands, but multiple models within each brand that all come with different pros and cons.
This article will attempt to make the job of choosing an epilator a little easier by going into detail on one popular epilator brand: Emjoi.

So, Emjoi, What’s The Deal?
Emjoi Epilators sit in the middle of market price wise. They appear to be better than the most budget brands but not quite as fabulous as the highly popular Braun Silk épil models.
Then again, everyone is different, everyone has different hair and consequently different hair removal needs.
So while some people may be over the moon at the prospect of one of Braun’s Silk-épil 9s, others may be just as over the moon with an Emjoi or Philips model.
But we’re just going to focus on Emjoi here.
Emjoi does have the advantage in that they specialize in epilators and mani-pedi products, so they know their stuff when compared to a more generalized brand.
But, the main difference appears to be the number of tweezers. While Braun’s epilators have 40, Philips’s have 21-32, Emjoi’s have an incredible 18-82 tweezers.
Then there’s the sheer range of products that Emjoi have. Emjoi has a ridiculous 10 completely different models on the market.
However, some of these models seem fairly similar in what they do, and they only have one waterproof model which may be a deal breaker for some people.

9 Emjoi Epilator Reviews (2024)
Emjoi AP 18 Epilator Review
The Emagine model is one of Emjoi’s most popular epilators and comes in a rechargeable cordless version as well as this corded one.
It has the famous 72 tweezers, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that there is more plucking going on than other brands with fewer tweezers.
Due to their arrangement, only 12 will be touching your skin at a time, and they also don’t open as widely as the tweezers on other models. This means their plucking power isn’t actually any better than Braun on Philips.
So, more isn’t necessarily better when it comes to tweezers. But, the Emagine is still a very effective epilator and it has retained its popularity for a reason.
Pros
- Comes with 2 speeds, high or low.
- Fast speed is pretty fast.
- Compatible with shaver head which is sold separately.
- A protective cap is very handy for keeping the epilator head clean and safe when traveling.
- Silver ion tweezer technology.
- Quick, powerful and effective to use.
- Affordable.
Cons
- Durability issues, may not last as long as some more expensive brands.
- No grip makes it slippery to hold.
- Not suitable for use on the face.
- Not waterproof, can only be used dry.
Takeaway
All in all, the Emjoi Emagine appears to be a decent epilator, but not quite as effective or well designed as competition from other brands, as it hasn’t changed much in recent years. This is an epilator you’ll want if your legs are the main body part you’ll target.
Emjoi Soft Caress Epilator Review
The main drawcard of this rechargeable epilator is its pain reduction technology, designed to dramatically reduce the discomfort of epilating. The anti-microbial gold plating on the tweezers is supposed to minimize irritation that could be caused by exposing foreign bacteria to hair follicles.
Gold is also very stable meaning it won’t rust or tarnish the way other metals will.
Pros
- Comes in a corded version.
- 36 gold-plated tweezer discs are naturally anti-microbial.
- Massaging finger attachment.
- Can be used comfortably anywhere on your body.
- Comes with an exfoliating loofah, protective head, travel pouch, and cleaning brush.
- Surprisingly affordable despite the gold plating.
- Good for thick hair.
Cons
- Battery power is weaker than corded version.
- Not waterproof, can only be used on dry skin.
Takeaway
Though it’s not possible for an epilator to be painless in its design (reduced pain will mainly come through repeated use), this epilator does appear to be less painful than others, so could be a great choice if you’re new to epilating and want a versatile model.
This could actually be the best Emjoi epilator on the market.

Emjoi Facial Epilator Review
The Emjoi Epi Slim Epilator is the epilator you’ll want for your face. Designed with a slim design for hard to reach and sensitive areas, it has received excellent reviews and is a top choice if you primarily want an epilator for facial hair.
It is also a slim, compact design that makes it ideal for travel.
Pros
- 18 Tweezer action discs in a slim design.
- Not too loud.
- Narrow head is ideal for hard to reach places.
- Perfect if you just want to epilate small areas and don’t want to have to purchase a full-sized epilator.
Cons
- Takes 2 AA batteries which aren’t included and will probably require replacing often as it loses power when the batteries get low.
- Requires skin to be completely dry.
Takeaway
If you want an epilator just for the face, underarms and bikini area, this is the ideal model. It works effectively, leaving all those areas smooth and soft.
Emjoi Erase 60 Disc Epilator Review
This is a corded epilator, which, while being less convenient in terms of having to use it near a power source and the cord sometimes getting in the way, can actually be better in the long run as the power level remains consistent.
You don’t have to worry about it going flat mid-session and having to wait for it to charge, and the overall life of the epilator may be longer than a rechargeable.
This epilator comes with dual opposed heads which are supposed to help stretch the skin and make epilating sensitive areas easier. It has 60 tweezers in a 3 disc system and comes with a travel pouch and cleaning brush.
Pros
- Smallest epilator in the Emjoi range, making it ideal for travel.
- Comes with a guide cover for sensitive areas like the face.
- Comes with a separate razor head.
- Small, compact size.
- Easy to grip.
Cons
- Not waterproof, can only be used dry.
- Not so good for thick hair.
Takeaway
Mixed thoughts on this one.
Your technique and hair type seem to be the deciding factors as to whether this will work for you or not. It is not the best of the Emjoi range but would serve well as a small travel epilator.
Emjoi Erase 84 Epilator Review
Similar to the Erase 60 but with 84 tweezers, this epilator has the most of any on the market right now. In saying this though, it’s not as popular as the Emagine AP18 and doesn’t appear to do as good a job despite the crazy number of tweezers.
Pros
- Dual opposed heads help to stretch the skin for easy use on sensitive areas.
- 84 tweezers and “Precision Hair Removal Technology”.
- Comes with a cleaning brush and sensitive cover.
Cons
- Not waterproof, can only be used on dry skin.
- Expensive for what you get.
Takeaway
This epilator appears to be the Emagine AP18 but with more tweezers which don’t appear to help with the epilation efficiency.
Emjoi Seal Wet/Dry Epilator + Callus Remover Review
This is the latest product to hit the market from Emjoi, cordless and rechargeable, it is waterproof so you can use it in the bath, yay!
The Seal is the updated Dolphin Wet/Dry Epilator which is no longer available. Though the Seal is still pretty new on the market, so either you’re going to love it or hate it.
Pros
- 42-tweezer head.
- Can be used wet or dry.
- Interchangeable head reveals callus remover.
- Anti-microbial properties from silver ion technology.
- The ergonomically designed handle is easy to hold.
Cons
- Pretty expensive.
- Callus remover may not be as efficient as using a hand file.
Takeaway
If being able to use your epilator in the bath is a big drawcard for you, then this epilator could be worth a shot. Whether or not the callus remover is a significant addition to the epilator remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t buy this epilator specifically for the callus remover.
Emjoi Tweeze Erase E6 Review
This is an even smaller version of the Epi Slim model in terms of the width of the head and the number of tweezers. It is specifically designed for really tiny, awkward areas like the upper lip and bikini line, if precision is what you’re going for.
Pros
- Narrow 6 tweezer system is ideal for small areas.
- Extra gentle for sensitive places.
- eRase Glide technology.
- Includes a safety feature that stops the rotation if the epilator is pressed too hard against the skin.
Cons
- Some people may find that it doesn’t remove all hairs and finer ones need to be plucked individually.
- I’ve heard some people claim that this model is more painful than others.
Takeaway
This epilator could be a great option for beginners as it targets a smaller area of hairs so the sensation won’t be intense. It is a great alternative to manual tweezers if you usually remove your facial hair that way.

Emjoi Cashmere Epilator Review
The Cashmere Epilator isn’t actually being manufactured by Emjoi anymore as it’s replaced by updated products. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t necessarily be able to find one somewhere if you’re really determined.
As with a lot of epilators, some people may really love it and find it really effective, some people may find it doesn’t remove their hair adequately or is too painful.
Pros
- 36 Tweezer Discs.
- Battery Operated.
- Massaging Finger Function.
Cons
- Not currently available. (looked on December 2018)
Takeaway
Cashmere. Mmmm! If you do find a model somewhere out there, let us know, maybe someone’s desperately looking for this one.
Emjoi Optima Epilator
Like the Cashmere above, the Optima isn’t being manufactured by Emjoi anymore, but you may still be able to find it around. It is a super cute, tiny epilator that is ideal for travel and small, hard to reach places.
This is definitely an older model, but in its heyday, it’s received good feedback. Some of the older models also appear to be more durable and longer lasting.
Pros
- 36 Tweezer discs.
- Small compact size.
- Comes with a carrying case and loofah sponge.
Cons
- Not currently available. (looked on December 2018)
Takeaway
Not much to add, since it’s not produced anymore. If you do find it, my guess is that it will be overpriced, but maybe I’m wrong.
Putting It All Together
So, what is the best Emjoi epilator? From my research, I’m going to have to go with the Emjoi Soft Caress Epilator.
Though the Emagine AP 18 gets the most attention, it appears a little dated compared to other brands on the market. In contrast, the Soft Caress has added design features that do appear to make a difference in terms of comfort.
Of course, any kind of hair removal is a personal experience, and what works for one person may not work for another. And, no matter how bulletproof you are, using an epilator is always going to be a little painful, and that’s not always going to be the fault of the epilator!
